new, new year's resolution

i have had some serious enlightenment lately. i feel as though i am moving a bit slower, enjoying a bit more, and needing a lot less. so, about the new year's resolutions, i have decided while i still want to lose weight (and believe me i will) and i still want to go to church and get my kids involved, i want to also slow down. i want to think more clearly about what i do throughout the day.

i found another blog that is all about being zen. now i am not really into this kind of stuff, but i thought that i would at least read about it, see what all it said-- and i found something on there about slowing down-

The first time I was in Sweden, one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work). The first day, I didn’t say anything, either the second or third. One morning I asked, “Do you have a fixed parking space? I’ve noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot.” To which he replied, “Since we’re here early we’ll have time to walk, and whoever gets in late will be late and need a place closer to the door. Don’t you think? Imagine my face.

what an interesting way to think. don't you think?

before christmas break (before chris was home on vacation) i would rush around my house all day long and never seem to get things done. one day it was so bad (back in may) that kelsey drove from blacksburg to rescue me in my insanity! i felt horrible about rushing my kids here and there all to "get stuff" well, i don't need a thing right now (except for eggs and bread) and i've had the best time. i have relaxed and enjoyed my kids and husband, i have cleaned things that i haven't cleaned in years, i have just been fine.

so, the biggest, best, and most exciting new year's resolution is to just SLOW DOWN. think and enjoy! i don't want my kids growing up trying to get a million things done all at once--

i haven't been to the grocery store since the christmas eve (except to get milk and bread) and we have all been fine! we actually have been eating things that were in the freezer! the freezer! who knew?! i have loved it!

happy new year to all!
