a couple of things..

looking over my blog (which is mostly about my kids) i realized that i haven't posted enough lately about ella. ella is growing up so quickly and i know that i cannot stop/slow it down... but man i miss her being really little! she is a coloring fool- the girl could color all day and night if i let her! i will post some pics of her coloring- so, here at the superbowl "get together" she was coloring her valentine box for school. super cute!

i am not a huge sports fan- i love that sports exist, i just don't find that i am a "follower" of many sports. i'm not the girl in the crowd that -loves the game- by no means! but on superbowl night i wore the only thing i own that is "superbowl" related... a shirt with a fleur d'lie (if that's even how you spell it) and low and behold the saints win! *** it was because of the shirt- i know)

my 'nastics gal- she loves a great trampoline! we go to open gym at least once a week in the winter -- we are in serious need of some vitamin D soon! i feel like we haven't seen the sun in FOREVER!

the dentist and ella

so, today was ella's first dentist appointment. ( i know, she should have already gone... but i let my fears of the dentist overwhelm my parental duties) i have been talking about the dentist FOREVER with her in hopes to keep the fears at bay. well, today was the day! i was really considering not taking her this morning... but, i was responsible, mature, and did the right thing... we went. we went, got lost, were 45 minutes late, i have angry tears and everything! I WAS THAT MOM! i called and called and called the office but the phone was busy... the ordeal that it became was very unpleasant!

but, we made it FINALLY! in the waiting room she looked at me with the quiver lip and said i don't want to go back there...

i know that it is better in these situations to not baby her and push her on to do the "mature, big girl" thing, and that is just what i did. and she went back when they called her name, came out in 15 minutes or less.... grinning ear to ear with her "new teeth" and jumping saying "NO CAVITIES, NO CAVITIES!"

sidenote, i thought for sure that she would have 30! but, none! i couldn't be prouder, more excited, or blessed that this child has nothing but great teeth!

and to my lacey... i have even been flossing those chompers (on them both)

** when fisher goes... they will have to use restraints! we have to headlock that boy to get his teeth brushed every night and morning! **

all for now! have a great afternoon!

coming up a tad bit short

so this year i've had this daunting feeling that i am coming up a tad bit short. i feel like i am planning ahead, thinking ahead, trying to do the "right" thing for my kids, marriage, family, and friends... but it still just isn't working out quite right.

the most recent example, today, ella and fisher wake up with fevers well over 100, ella is so limp and unable to move on her own (with a little drama added in) fisher on the other hand is just a tad bit slower.

so, i call the doctor because they have been on antibiotics for three days and that just doesn't seem right. usually the antibiotic gods work their magic in less than 24 hours... not this time. the nurse says "you should bring them in, we need to check if it's pneumonia ( i don't know how the hell that word is spelled) or any other secondary infection.

i get dressed, get the kids dressed, pack drinks, snacks, and my purse all up. i KNOW that the diaper bag is in the car... not a problem.

i load up two kids (i carry 60 lbs of sick baby down my stairs and to my car) and my purse (30lbs on it's own) and head to the doctor.

get there, no diaper bag. WHO GOES ANYWHERE WITH TWO KIDS AND NO DIAPER BAG????

example 2- when i went to roanoke, i complain to my dear husband that the house needs to be CLEANED, really CLEANED, like the kind you can't do with fisher in the house.

less than one week later, it is a disaster due to sick kids.

example 3- i am trying my hardest to lose more weight and get into my 5K training... i haven't gone to bed before midnight this week, and someone has woke my up at least once a night, everynight. who wants to run at 6:00am on less than 6 hours of sleep? not me.

so, i tell ya... i am one sad momma these days... i need a vacation in the worst way!

making some progress

i knew that if i just admitted it... that ella would eventually start to turn around... the beginning may just be in sight.

last night chris looked at me while i am making plans to have a neighbor (thanks jenn and shawn) come over to help take christmas pictures (so i could have the "entire" family in the picture) and said "just stop. you are the busiest person i know. just stop. just relax. stop. breathe. everything will get done. promise." and like the wonderful husband that he is... he was right. everything will be okay, and everything will get done.

i just have to stop and remember that "being" with my kids and him... is different that "being with my kids and him" i have to remember to take in the moments- even the little ones and enjoy them. we haven't even gotten to boys yet with ella and i am starting to freak!? or hannah montanta for that matter.

i start to get a little panicky toward the end of the year- i start to wonder if i have done everything that i had set out to do...

well... when it comes down to it- who cares???? the to-do list has got to be thrown out! (and i love lists!) i have lists everywhere (thanks mom for that quality) on the bathroom mirror, the fridge, the nightstand, grocery lists, shopping lists, things to do lists, project lists, in my head lists-- and half the time i forget to even take them with me!

so-- today-- we went to playgroup and picked up some pictures from sam's, came home and the kids took their naps, i worked out,i started dinner (and it was really good tonight- chicken parm) and when they woke up-- we PLAYED for a good hour or more before chris came home. then we all ate dinner together. and while eating dinner- ella said that she wanted to "put on her bedtime clothes, go downstairs, turn on the fireplace, and snuggle and watch dancing with the stars while i rubbed the palms of her hands"

done-baby-done

it was a great night!
